Margaret River is growing - let's make sure it doesn't sprawl.

The Augusta Margaret River Shire already has rezoned large quantities of land to the east of the Margaret River township. The Department of Planning and Infrastructure predicts that we have enough land set aside for houses to last us until 2029.

No decisions should be made on rezoning new land until 2012 at the earliest. By then we should be able to predict future growth of the town.

The new Townsite Strategy is trying to force us into deciding on the future expansion of the town - now.

This is unnecessary and is likely to lead to sprawling developments.

Take a look at what the new strategy says is going to happen to Forrest Road, The Greenway, The Avenue, the park and the children's play area. Especially the houses backing on to the park.
